Story Behind the Art:
Our star artisan, Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Nabi, has worked with CTI non-stop for going on 14 years now. I work as the designer, and he expresses those thoughts and ideas in marble. Our work relationship is exemplary of how two people can successfully cooperate to create items which are unique and very special. The events of the January revolution literally shut down all business in Egypt – except ours. We were able to keep the workshop open and functioning, and the creative process ongoing, despite a lack of any public transportation, shutting down of cell phones and internet, a severe military curfew, and a maze of tanks everywhere to curb violence and lawlessness. It was challenging and at times dangerous, but nonetheless we had a timetable to meet, and meet it we did.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
