Story Behind the Art:

My father, Don Silvino Preciado, passed on this craft to his sons. He taught us that woodwork requires much dedication, and it has taken patience and constancy on my part to master it. Hola! I'm Ramon Preciado Martinez, born in central Mexico in 1998. I began working with wood when I was only 12. My friends consider me to be serious, spontaneous and a talented carpenter. My work isn't easy, but I feel proud to be able to show you our designs. My dream is for my family to be recognized as the creative artisans we are.

I find it fascinating to be able to depict my ideas in pieces that will be handed down from generation to generation, just as my father, Don Silvino Preciado, passed on this craft to his sons. He taught us that woodwork requires much dedication, and it has taken patience and constancy on my part to master it. Today, only my brother and I continue in Father's footsteps. I work principally with wood, which can sometimes be difficult, depending on the kind and species. I have always preferred quality wood, so I use mahogany, cedar and parota. I enjoy the challenge of creating replicas of antiques that look genuine. My inspiration comes from the ability to craft something with my own hands that everyone can see and admire.

For me, working on my own has been an incredible experience, difficult and very satisfying. My family and I are involved in the entire process, and can transform the concept into a finished work of art. I work from home, where my father, my older brother and I all share the workshop. I hope you who appreciate our art will support us with your preference, and not only for economic benefit. Sadly, our kind of creative carpentry isn't greatly appreciated and is almost forgotten. Yet anyone who acquires a liking for it can learn the skill, just as I did.
